Chagall’s Angels by Stephani Hemness

Red, red all around
not of flames not
of hell, surely
as angels are here.
Circle up, debrief- what did we do today?
What was brought to those in the blue, blue below
cool and low and deep or
red and warm and the color of love
of blood, of life, of Rhodies in May of
red maple she planted, almost purple
red tulips in a vast field
neat rows bold
red kitchen red hair
too many bottles of red nail polish.
Red, red all around, love
We angels remind you of this
red, red all around
primary color, primary love
first and foremost
without which there’d be no purple
royal, balanced, rare.
She has joined us the angels
circled up, discuss those in
the blue, blue below
